This partnership heralds the ed-tech platform’s entry into the arena of ‘Super Bowl’ marketing, which has historically helped brands reach their target audiences instantly, breaking away from its conventional  BTL strategy focused on highly niche tactics, channels and avenues

Scaler (by InterviewBit), one of the fastest-growing tech education startups, today announced its association with the online video streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar as an official partner for the marquee World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and Australia from 07 to 11th June 2023. Through this association, the edtech startup aims to garner around 50 million cumulative impressions (the campaign will be played multiple times during the duration of the event) for the edtech's latest brand film that urges working professionals to be self-driven in their hungry pursuit for skill-based career growth.

Since its inception, Scaler's marketing efforts have systematically targeted its niche audience of working tech and IT professionals in a deliberate manner to ensure maximum impact at a fraction of the astronomical marketing costs cited by its peers. With an emphasis on clutter-breaking messaging and adopting a digital-first approach to reach its potential learner community, Scaler has launched some of the most thought-provoking campaigns, challenging the status quo when it comes to how techies learn and build their careers.

Backed by the success of its most memorable campaign on skills-trumping degrees, Scaler's BTL approach has served it well with channels such as OTT, YouTube, social media engagement activities, and other content collaborations across genres and geographies. Hence, even as the brand bets on more significant sporting events like cricket for more exhaustive canvassing, its association is with an OTT platform and app, as the latter emerges as the default choice of young aspiring techies and working professionals. The brand has previously collaborated with Disney+Hotstar as an Associate Sponsor to promote its marketing campaign during the Asia Cup.

"We are delighted to announce our strategic partnership with Disney+ Hotstar for the much-anticipated Final between India and Australia. This collaboration marks a pivotal step in Scaler's evolving brand-marketing journey as we move beyond the safe harbour of our minimal investment for a maximum-impact approach. Our goal is to enhance visibility for the brand by aligning with niche sporting events that reach our desired demographic," says Rahul Karthikeyan, Chief Marketing Officer Scaler & InterviewBit.

"As we continue to expand our learner base, impactful associations with high-decibel sporting events, such as cricket, will help instantly create the desired brand awareness amidst a much wider audience. We look forward to a captivating match and creating a memorable experience for all cricket enthusiasts," he added.

Over the years, most brands have relied heavily on brand ambassadors to appeal to their audiences. However, since most upskilling programs target a specific audience that is well-informed and part of the decision-making process, only a few brands have built a niche. In 2022, Scaler announced a 100 crore investment in digital marketing to capture the minds of young and aspiring techies through their medium of choice. On the back of its sustainable, low-cash-burn principle, Scaler has observed a 100% increase in enrolment inquiries for its online programs and a staggering 200% increase in the time spent by existing learners on the platform.

Scaler's BTL approach, which includes strategic partnerships with creators and influencers such as Alright, Ankur Warikoo, JordIndian, RVCJ, TVF, and more, has helped the brand optimise costs while yielding positive outcomes. In 2022, the brand successfully produced two popular Telugu, Marathi web series, and a regional language movie, generating millions of views per episode on YouTube. Additionally, collaborations with prominent regional influencers such as Parithabangal and Prafull MBA Chai Wala have further elevated the brand's presence in specific regions experiencing growing upskilling demand.

Like Scaler, we are excessively focused towards the success of our students and firmly believe that the nation has enough raw talent to one day build products and companies that will dominate the world, similar to what organisations like Google, Microsoft and Uber have done. All they need is the appropriate direction and access to opportunities. This strategic union with Scaler will help us take a step towards revolutionising how India learns and works with technology. "

Sumeet Malik holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and has worked with Indus Valley Partners, Avalon Information Systems and Nagarro before laying the foundation of Pepcoding.

  • Scaler launches Scaler School of Technology, a 4-year residential UG program in Computer Science with its first campus in Bengaluru

Scaler (by InterviewBit), one of India's fastest-growing start-ups, today announced the launch of Scaler School of Technology, a 4-year residential undergraduate computer science program designed and delivered to revolutionize higher education for the next generation of India's software professionals.

In a recent event by FICCI, Mr Amitabh Kant, the former CEO of Niti Ayog, succinctly highlighted the lack of industry-academia collaboration that leaves our current university curriculum severely lacking. The country is in dire need of - one, a high-quality computer science UG program capable of delivering world-class career prospects to millions of young and ambitious Indian software engineers, and two, providing a perennial pipeline of highly qualified skilled workforce for the global technology sector. Scaler School of Technology has been established to address these two essential and long-unmet demands in India.

Of the 16 lakh engineering graduates entering the job market in India every year, only 16% end up finding a job, out of which 80% are computer science jobs. Only 2% of these graduates actually find a job that pays more than Rs 8 lakh a year, primarily computer science related. The supply side of the challenge is equally anomalous. Quality educators like our tax-payer-funded leading engineering college, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), offers fewer than 500 computer science seats annually and don’t have a 100% placement rate. The rest have to make do with a UG ecosystem that is scarcely equipped to impart industry-relevant education and training due to outdated curriculum delivered by inadequately trained teachers and at a price that doesn't deliver results for the students or parents investing in their children's future. On the other hand, high-quality jobs in software engineering are in very high demand and will continue to be so. Coursera has estimated that there will be 9 crore new jobs in software engineering in the next 10 years. But the largely poor quality of India's UG programs for computer science is forcing graduates to learn outside the curriculum to find well-paying jobs. Scaler School of Technology expects to address all these issues effectively.

Salient features of Scaler School of Technology’s 4-year residential undergraduate program -

    • Offers specialisations in new-age in-demand technologies like Data Science, Machine Learning, Algorithmic Trading and competitive programming
    • 1-year paid industry internship with leading tech companies with 1-1 guidance from industry mentors
    • State-of-the-art gamified learning platform - real-time learning tracker
    • Brainstorm on real-world hackathons in collaboration with Scaler’s career partners
    • Fireside chats and mentoring by industry leaders/CTOs
    • Top tech veterans from Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Ola, Uber will teach
    • 1:1 guided mentorship from the industry leaders during internship

Delivered in three phases, the first 18 months of the program will focus on mastering computer science fundamentals by building pedagogy with real-life cases, followed by one year paid industry internship with leading technology companies and one-on-one mentoring by industry veterans. The final 18 months will allow students to specialize as senior engineers and machine learning/artificial intelligence engineers with specialization in algorithmic trading or learning skills, which will help graduates build their careers in the top 0.1% of the companies in the world. The program also intends to provide a pre-placement offer (PPO) to 50% of the batch within two and a half years of joining the program. Scaler has also built a robust merit-based scholarship program allowing students from every background access to the best quality of education and develop into highly competent and future-ready software tech professionals.

Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-founder of Scaler & InterviewBit, said, "The short duration upskilling courses around machine learning, data science, and AI that Scaler has been providing over the last four years have turned around the careers for thousands of young professionals. We have delivered better results than any of the country's current 4-year UG CS programs. The 35,000-odd successful Scaler alumni in the global technology sector gave us the confidence to enter the UG education space and bring fundamental changes that will deliver results for all stakeholders.”

Students at Scaler’s Undergraduate Programme in Software Development will be eligible to enroll in a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Computer Science recognised by the UGC through a reputed institute. This degree will also enable students to apply for government jobs or Indian and overseas higher studies if they wish to. Additionally, they will also receive a Master of Science in Computer Science from Woolf University, which is licensed as a higher education institution in the European Union that works on ECTS - European Credit Transfer System. The master's degree awarded by Woolf is globally recognised, with recognition from ECS and CES.

"Scaler was created on the belief that everyone is unique when it comes to learning. Completely standardised and theory-heavy education will not work. In the Scaler world, every student gets a personal industry mentor who spends time with them every month to shape their career and thought process, supported by batch success managers responsible for ensuring no one is left behind. Scaler School of Technology will work on the same principle." added Anshuman Singh, Co-founder of Scaler & InterviewBit.

Scaler School of Technology will not be an all-work-no-play institution. Students will live an enriching life with access to the expected experience, including campus events, fests, and all modern amenities like gyms, sports activities, libraries, laundry, medical facilities, and security at the state-of-the-art campus. The 4-year residential program located in the heart of India's Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, will allow students to meet industry leaders at least once every quarter. Scaler also works with more than 900 employer-partners internationally, including the top names in every tech sector like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Zomato, Airtel, Wells Fargo, PayPal and others, who regularly hire Scaler alumni. To top it all, Bengaluru's effervescent social life created by its unique cosmopolitan population will be a perfect setting for Scaler's students to learn, grow and live a wholesome life. The first batch of the new UG program offering 200 seats will commence on July 18, 2023.

The Bengaluru-based edtech start-up is now part of Skill India's Mission to bridge the massive skill gap in India’s tech sector

Scaler (by InterviewBit), one of India's fastest-growing edtech startups, announced its strategic partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to help India meet its growing demand for Software Development Engineers, Data Scientists and Machine Learning specialists through its unique and effective upskilling programs.

The collaboration will work towards standardising tech upskilling in emerging high-growth areas and recognise it as the appropriate solution to create a large pool of skilled and certified workforce. Through this union, the learners completing the Scaler Academy and Scaler Data Science & Machine Learning (DSML) courses will be awarded a certificate of completion co-branded with NSDC. This alliance will also help Scaler become an integral part of the Skill India Mission that was started in 2015 with a mandate to skill 400 million Indians across key sectors in the country.

"We believe that our partnership with Scaler will not just help certify deserving trained workforce but also help generate appropriate employment opportunities for the youth of the country. NSDC and Scaler will together address the need of the high-growth sectors identified by the Government of India, including IT, electronics, and entrepreneurship. This association has the potential to bridge the supply-demand differences and therefore bridge the ongoing great skills shortage in the tech industry," said Mr Sanjeeva Singh, EVP of the Skill Financing Team from NSDC, joined by Mr Varun Batra, GM, who supported close this partnership.

Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-founder of Scaler & InterviewBit, said, "Scaler was founded with a specific goal to create a large and relevant skill force to meet the growing demand in areas like data science, machine learning etc. In the last four years, over 30,000 people have joined our unique upskilling programs that comprise world-class pedagogy, an up-to-date curriculum, and trainers & mentors from the tech industry. We are delighted to join hands with NSDC, one of India's most successful public-private partnerships, and become part of Skill India Mission. We believe, through this partnership, Scaler will now have a bigger role to play in bridging India's growing skill gap, particularly in emerging areas within the larger tech sector."

This partnership aims to address the prevailing skill gap in the tech industry by providing upskilling courses, which will now be recognised under NSDC, thereby highlighting the country's support for producing industry-ready tech talents. NSDC endeavours to create a sustainable and enabling training ecosystem. Learners enrolled with Scaler are taught, guided, and mentored by industry veterans and experts from leading tech organisations, including Google, Meta, Netflix, Microsoft, etc. The scheme also helps create a certified, verifiable data repository of all the candidates being trained by Scaler.

Scaler is one of the few edtech startups that has witnessed substantial growth in the past four years amidst edtech and startup layoffs and the funding freeze observed in the startup space in 2022. Despite the volatility, Scaler has expanded its workforce by over 300% in the last year, achieving a growth of over 350% year-on-year and sustained month-on-month revenue growth of 15%. Scaler is currently witnessing a 90 per cent course completion rate with a 94 per cent successful placement rate. In 2022, the company expanded its footprints in the US, launched first-of-its-kind co-living campuses, strengthened its leadership team, and launched its learning app on the Play Store. The edtech startup also became cash-flow positive during this period with a valuation of $710 million, up from about $76.5 million in 2020.

~The campaign illustrates the importance of self-driven learning to tackle real-world challenges and highlights the importance of acquiring the right skill sets to create a mark in the dynamic tech landscape through three brand films~

Scaler, one of India's fastest-growing tech upskilling startups, announced the launch of a brand campaign that emphasises the importance of working professionals pursuing their hunger for learning and continuing their upskilling journeys to maintain their edge in the competitive tech industry. The new campaign from Scaler comes when the tech and startup sector faces challenges around profitability and productivity. With several organisations cutting off non-essential staff, it is an opportune time for working professionals to focus on building their skill sets to continue their career growth.

The first film in the series highlights how everyone has dreams and aspirations, and fantasies about success and growth, but only those with a real hunger to achieve their dreams and goals succeed. Dreaming is not enough; you have got to push hard and work towards achieving your dreams. And that’s why Scaler programmes are rigorous. They demand not only aptitude but high hunger and drive from their learners. Scaler offers upcoming tech professionals the opportunity to overcome their career obstacles and challenges by creating an ecosystem of learning that enables them to tackle the dynamic challenges the industry presents to professionals. As the film progresses to portraying the boy breaking open a door, Scaler paints a notion of a harsh environment teaching the professionals to push their limits. The second and third films will be released over the next few days. They will continue this conversation and focus more on the solution that Scaler provides tech professionals in their upskilling journey, including industry mentorship and access to the latest technology. Through this campaign, Scaler wants to engage with techies who have a fire in their belly, are hungry to learn and are not just daydreamers. This is not just an ad campaign but a hunger test for 5 million techies out there.

Rahul Karthikeyan, Chief Marketing Officer, Scaler & Interviewbit, stated, "Technology is advancing much faster than ever before. Tech professionals are often overwhelmed by the obligations and demands of the industry. With our new brand campaign, we want our professionals to continue the learning journey of acquiring new skill sets and adapting themselves to cater to the industry's changing dynamics. With this campaign, we want to empower professionals to take control and steer their careers to success on their terms by grabbing the right kind of support and guidance available to them at the right time. Our creative agency has managed to break away from conventional clutter by delivering a compelling message that will effectively reach the tech professional grappling with similar issues in any part of the country."

“Haven't we all seen people daydreaming in the office? And there are those who want to break the inertia and do something. They are the hungry ones. They don't live in a dream bubble. They are go-getters. And that's the kind of people Scaler wants to teach. This was the insight that helped us crack the creative idea. And rather than just a TVC, we  planned an integrated approach starting with the Masterclass where techies will have to take a Hunger Test to gauge their temperament. Also, while working on the execution, we wanted to move away from the 4 walls of an office set-up. So we propped a barren desert like an office...very metaphoric! We're confident that this campaign will inspire the hungry ones to come and learn. As for the dreamers, they can continue to dream. Because, sapne dekhne ke liye paise nahi lagte.” - Suyash Khabya, Creative Head, The Womb.

This brand campaign will be predominantly digital-led, following the digital-first approach by the company. The film will be released across social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. The brand will also engage with prominent national and regional social media influencers to create a buzz around the campaign.

In the last year, Scaler launched multiple effective brand campaigns focusing on various product offerings and services. The first-ever campaign was an engaging short film that drew on popular shows and internet references. The second film highlighted the true story of a Scaler learner placed in a global tech company with the guidance of his Scaler mentor. Another film highlighted the importance of producing capable techies experienced towards tackling Data Science & Machine Learning (DS & ML). Scaler also introduced a B2B campaign aimed at global and home-grown tech giants highlighting the emerging shift in the status quo, with companies preferring the right skills. Scaler has produced two web series - B.E Rozgaar and 30 Weds 21 - explicitly written for the brand in vernacular languages. Currently, both series have millions of views per episode on YouTube.

~Over 1.5 lakh users sign up for 25+ free courses on specialised tech topics~

With the significant uptick in demand for skilled professionals in the country, Scaler, one of India's fastest-growing tech upskilling startups, recently launched 'Scaler Topics', a gamified free learn-to-code platform that can provide quality technical content for anyone interested in software-related subjects. Since its pilot launch five months ago, Scaler Topics currently witnesses a monthly average of 20 lakh users interacting with video courses from Scaler's top instructors from top tech companies like Google, Facebook, etc., and reading articles written by tech veterans. The platform continues to show over 50% month-over-month growth.

The 'Scaler Topics' platform provides streamlined technical content across all fields related to tech, data science, and machine learning for individuals passionate about learning and building a career in many in-demand domains with assisted videos from mentors, even with no prior knowledge in their chosen field. In addition to the video courses, the platform provides a wide range of free material to software enthusiasts through interactive challenges, events, contests, and detailed article threads by industry experts. With gamification inherently built into the user experience, Scaler intends to provide an interactive platform of convenience for learners. Industry veterans with an in-depth understanding of the skills required for budding software professionals conduct regular masterclass sessions on various topics, including C++, Java, SQL, Data Science, Machine Learning and Python. The platform garners over 90 million monthly search impressions, seeing over 100,000 daily users. It hosts over 4500 articles created by industry experts, 25+ video courses from top Scaler Instructors who have been industry veterans, and 3000+ interactive challenges to learn and compete. Over 150,000 users have signed up for free courses on the Scaler Topics platform.

Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-founder, InterviewBit & Scaler, said, There is a daunting challenge to democratise tech education in the country. Over 2 million jobs in AI, cybersecurity and blockchains are expected to remain unfilled in 2023. Due to the inaccessibility of quality content, particularly coding skills in demand in the tech industry, it is essential to provide a comprehensive learning platform that is understandable even for a Class 10 student from any part of the country. It was our thought process behind developing Scaler Topics. Offering well-researched live sessions, ideated and conducted by industry experts having worked at top tech companies for free, is the first step in this direction. Scaler (by InterviewBit), one of the fastest-growing tech upskilling start-ups, announced its mobile application's launch to enable software professionals to upskill themselves and prepare for a progressive career in software development. Just five months into its soft launch, The application has witnessed over 50K downloads organically and with more than 2X growth over the last two months in learners registering for free classes and courses. The app targets anyone interested in Software Engineering & Development, Data Science (DS), and Machine Learning (ML).

With India accounting for 27 Billion Mobile app downloads in 2021, consumers consistently shift towards a mobile-first approach. Through this app, the company hopes to streamline access to quality content on various technical subjects through live classes and events, along with recorded lectures on different topics curated by top industry instructors. With access to varied challenges and quizzes, learners can build knowledge and skills in a practice-based learning environment. The various content genres provide an immersive learning experience by allowing the users to learn on the go in their preferred medium. Scaler (by InterviewBit), one of the fastest-growing tech upskilling startups, announced ten days of paid time off for its employees at the end of the year. 'Gratitude Leaves', as the company calls it, has been announced to allow its employees a much-needed break at the end of a profitable and rewarding year. From 21st December through 1st January, as an ode to the team's hard work throughout the year, Scaler employees will be able to spend time away from work with their family and friends to refresh and rejuvenate themselves for an action-packed 2023.

While organisations in the tech and startup sector continue to grapple with high attrition, burnout, quiet quitting and other issues, the onus is on employers to create an environment that fosters both productivity and well-being - mental and physical. Introducing year-end leaves has been a global best practice. However, Scaler is among the few companies in India to announce a company-wide year-end shutdown adding to the new year festivities.

Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-Founder of Scaler and InterviewBit, said, "Times are tough, and we are constantly surrounded by news that has created anxieties in the ed-tech sector. At Scaler, we have always had a people-first approach to our business operations, and this philosophy has held us in good stead. Our talented workforce has played a critical role in running a cash flow-positive business, helping the company achieve a YoY growth of over 350 per cent and a sustained month-on-month revenue growth of 15 per cent. Having achieved these milestones, we want to allow our employees the time to cherish and benefit from their growth journey with us. These year-end leaves are just one of the many ways we acknowledge our team's efforts and contributions throughout the year. We have big plans for the year 2023, and we hope this time off will allow our team to come back stronger, happier and motivated to smash several glass ceilings."

Over the last year, Scaler has announced various other initiatives towards sustaining a positive work environment. The young edtech startup has issued 12 days of paid period leaves for all its menstruating employees. To ensure that employees are engaged, competent, and confident in their positions, Scaler has also budgeted five crores on employee benefits, engagement efforts, culture-building activities, and learning and development. Due to these time-relevant, conducive policies and initiatives, Scaler has successfully maintained a low attrition rate over the last two years. Continued efforts by the company towards creating an employee-friendly workplace also helped Scaler get recognised by AmbitionBox as "The Best Place to Work in India 2022" among tech startups.

Recently Scaler announced a cumulative 2500 per cent revenue growth in FY 2020 and 2021. Buoyed by this growth, Scaler will continue to hire across teams. In total, the organisation employs more than 2200 professionals, with women accounting for 33 per cent of the workforce.

~The company is consistently growing at 15% month on month~

Scaler, one of India's fastest-growing tech upskilling startups, announced a cumulative 2500 per cent revenue growth in FY 2020 and 2021 with an Annual Revenue Rate (ARR) of $110 Million in August 2022. Owing to the capital-efficient business model adopted by the company, Scaler has achieved YoY growth of over 350 per cent and sustained month-on-month revenue growth of 15 per cent. Despite the high growth, the company has been cash flow positive for the last few months.

To date, Scaler has acquired three edtech startups - AppliedRoots, Coding Minutes and Coding Elements - to further strengthen the offerings in Software Development, Data Science (DS) and Machine Learning (ML). Scaler has also forayed into higher education with one-of-its-kind Scaler Neovarsity that offers an ECTS-accredited online Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science program. Understanding the global need for upskilling, Scaler has also launched operations in the US.

"The last two years have been incredibly empowering, not only for our learners who have been able to make excellent career paths in the ever-growing tech industry but for all of us working towards building brand Scaler. We have seen remarkable and consistent growth in the business. The number we can share today is a testament to it. The cherry on the cake is that we have achieved this despite being very frugal and measured in how we have spent all the money we raised as investor funds. A large chunk of what we have raised is still in the bank, which has enabled us to take more calculated risks and continue to bet big. I want to accredit this success to our employees, mentors, trainers and learners who have contributed to this journey. This quarter, we will have achieved zero cash burn, and we are thrilled about what the future holds." said Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-founder of Scaler and InterviewBit.

Gaurav Agarwal, Senior Vice President, Finance of Scaler and InterviewBit, added, "As an organisation, we are very focused towards building sustainable growth. Approximately 20% of the money raised in our previous funding rounds has been spent towards acquisitions. Neither of these acquisitions was towards buying revenue. They were done to strengthen our offering further by getting the right talent on board. The gross bad loan ratio of education books for public service banks is around 6.8%, and that of private banks is at 5.8%, as per several media reports. In comparison, our loan default rates have been less than 0.1%. All these efforts have put us on the path of profitability, helping us build a dependable and viable business in the long run."

Scaler offers two flagship programs, Scaler Academy and Scaler DSML program. Both courses have seen tremendous uptake from tech professionals across the country. On average, Scaler learners spend 3+ hours daily on the platform, with 1000+ lines of code written per user per week. The company sees a 90 per cent course completion rate with a 94 per cent successful placement rate for its programs. Being able to deliver outcomes, Scaler witnessed 4.5x growth in August 2022 in weekly student enrolments compared to August 2021.

"Coders today are well aware of the importance of upskilling themselves with industry-relevant skills and understand the potential of career growth this brings to the table. Our learners, on average, have received a salary hike of 2.3X post upskilling, with the average salary being around INR 21.6 Lakhs. Hence, the value that tech upskilling offers to software professionals today is immeasurable," shared Abhimanyu.

Since October 2021, Scaler has strengthened its workforce by nearly 260% to meet the rising demand for upskilling. Currently, the headcount stands at 1800, and the startup also recently announced the intent to hire 600 more professionals by the end of the year.
