Having been part of a good developmental project always acts as an icing on the cake and of course, if you want the company to want you, you have to give them exactly what they are looking for.
I was an average, ordinary kid meant to divide my time between studies and part-time play, and I feel that is how it should be. Put in a little bit of curiosity and passion to the mix, and that is what lays the foundation of a bright future.
I am Vighnesh Mahale, and I am an ex-student of Bits Pilani. I used to work with Ola, and now I will be working with Amazon in the months to come.
Interviews are always a tough nut to crack, you have to build up a certain sense of confidence, and you have to prepare through a full proof method, but luckily not for me. My Scaler mentor has already had several mock interviews with me, and the actual interview just seemed like a similar process. I was extremely confident in my skills and abilities to be fitting the role, and hence the positive response was something I was already expecting.
Amazon is one of the best companies to work for; it has the best group of motivated and inquisitive people working for them. Whether you are thinking growth wise or logistically, this step of my choosing to work with them will be a leap for my career.
My preparation process for these interviews was comparatively more challenging than in my college because time management with a full-time job became a hefty procedure. I used to prepare for these interviews on weekends and then go back to working on weekdays, and so, of course, the major hurdle was managing my time back and forth.
The selection procedure was many folds. There was one coding round and four other on-site rounds. All these rounds were mainly technical in their rights, checking our data functioning and algorithm knowledge. There were some management and behavioral questions as well, but nothing extraordinarily difficult.
My switch from Ola to Amazon was mainly motivated by the difference in scale of both these companies. The peer group and the quality of the work they offer are other major attractions, and having a brand’s name, such as Amazon, is always a plus.
For anyone who has been trying to get into the big leagues, my only advice will be to work on your skillset and aim at a more practical knowledge-based working than just a theory-based one. My dedication has always made me stand out in a crowd, and I work passionately and regularly to keep it that way.
One piece of advice that I swear by is to be consistent, be dedicated, and to believe in your dreams enough to fulfill them.
